Answer three questions, then build the wallet that earns you the most.
Where do you spend?
Spending outside Canada
What do you want from your cards?
Chasing hotel elite status? Advanced counts elite night credits (like Marriott’s ENC), nights earned by spending and status from cards. Open Advanced
How often do you use airport lounges?
Each visit counts at CAD 30 a person when a card in the wallet gets you in: Priority Pass, DragonPass, LoungeKey or Plaza Premium; in the US also Amex Centurion, Chase Sapphire and Capital One lounges; Maple Leaf lounges if you fly mostly Air Canada.
Lite counts one typical lounge. For your actual airports and lounges, visit limits, guests, and which cards get you in, use Advanced. Open Advanced

- New wallets have up to 3 cards. Each card beyond the first has to add at least CAD 50 a year, after its fee, to be worth carrying.
- Only spending you can put on a card
- Spending abroad: “Some” moves about 15% and “A lot” about 40% of groceries, dining, gas, transit, travel and other in-person spending to the local currency, so foreign transaction fees count. Bills, subscriptions, online shopping, Costco and Loblaw stay at home.
- Costco and Loblaw stores are separate because some cards aren’t accepted there: Costco Canada takes Mastercard only, Costco US Visa only, and Loblaw stores don’t take Amex.
- Illustrative proportions, not a survey of people like you.
- Cash back values points at each program’s simplest redemption, such as a statement credit. Airline and hotel points have no cash option, so they use the low end of their travel value. Travel bookings assume you redeem for flights or hotels at a typical rate; your own value can be lower.
- Recurring rewards, plus lounge visits if you use lounges. Welcome offers, insurance and existing points balances are excluded.
- Conditional rates, merchant acceptance and eligibility can change the result. Check the issuer’s terms, especially grocery merchants and income or banking requirements.
- Lite suggests Canadian personal cards for spending in one country. Use Advanced to split spending across countries, set your own point values or add lounge trips.
- FX snapshot 2026-10-23: 1 USD = CAD 1.4005 · 1 TWD = CAD 0.044
- Card images belong to their respective issuers.

Default = Milesopedia 1.7 cents CAD (since 2026-09-01). High = Prince of Travel 2.2 cents CAD (Q2 2026), reflecting 1:1 Aeroplan/Avios/Flying Blue transfers; Fixed Points Travel up to ~2 cents at zone caps. Low = statement credit at 1.0 cent (1,000 pts = $10, travel or other purchases, per The Point Calculator / Milesopedia).
